Balmoral Castle – What you Need to Know!

A visit to Braemar would not be complete without a trip to see Balmoral Castle. If you are lucky enough to visit on a sunny summers day, the grounds and garden look stunning. General admission tickets start from £17.50 for an adult ticket and £9.00 for children. Family tickets are also available. Balmoral recently added Afternoon Tea tickets and also, for the first time, Castle Interior Tour tickets. Both of which have already sold out for this year! Get your tickets bought quick for next year….

It is no surprise these visitor experiences are very much sought after. In particular, the Castle Interior Tours, as this is the first time since the castle was completed in 1855 that interior tours have been allowed. However there are plenty of other things to do in and around the castle. You can do an Audio Tour around the grounds and gardens. If you purchase your admission tickets in advance, this tour is included free of charge and you can saunter around at your own pace.

There is also the Mews Gift Shop which has a substantial array of gifts and souvenirs, many of which have been produced especially and exclusively for Balmoral. There is also a dog friendly café, the Mews Café and Coffee Pod.

The popular Cairns walk can be accessed by walking out of the gates of Balmoral and carrying on past the bridge and along the road for just under 1 mile, then take a right uphill. There is a gate on your left signposted for the walk. The walk is around 6 miles and there are 7 cairns to be seen along the way.

Balmoral is open from 10am until 5pm daily until Sunday 11th August. All facilities are suitable for disabled access, parking for disabled and elderly visitors is available on the grounds of Balmoral. General carparking is available in the carpark next to the A93.
